Youth Group Affiliation

Staple Royal British Legion is please to announce they are now affiliated with 8th Deal Wingham Scout Group.

The agreement of Affiliation was signed at the Wingham Scout Group's AGM and all Beavers, Cubs and Scouts were presented with their Affiliation badge. In return our chairman Mike Sterba was presented with his sewing badge!  Just ask Mike the story!

What is Youth Group Affliliation?

Joining forces with local youth organisations is a great way for branches to strike a chord with the younger generation.

Branch affiliation enables members to work together with youth organisations on fundraising projects and promotes mutual community support.

The Royal British Legion can help youth organisations with:

* Offering opportunities for The Duke of Edinburgh Award Programme

* Fundraising under the name of the youth organisation

* Offering a wealth of experience on military knowledge and maybe even providing the odd instructor/lecturer from within the branch.

* Provide free educational resources via our Schools Learning Pack

For Branches, affiliating with youth organisations is a great way of raising awareness about The Royal British Legion, and encourages young people to take part in Legion activities.

The youth organisation could help with such activities as:

* Poppy Appeal collecting

* Branch Standard Bearer (adult and youth)

* Remembrance services and parades

* Affiliations are not a part of the recruiting scheme for Youth Members, however, if individuals wish to join their local Royal British Legion Branch as Youth Members they can.
